About the Artist
Just A Bit About Me

I suppose that I have always been an artist.
Like most kids, as soon as I could hold a crayon, I would be drawing
on any available surface I could find. By elementary school I was drawing
all over the archaic version of today's tablet-brown paper bags used to cover the
schoolbooks we carried each day to class. Toned canvas at your fingertips!
From art school, art museums, and galleries, studying the masters, old and new, to
workshops, artist books, art demos, and trial and error, I've immersed myself
in art for as long as I can remember. Through my many endeavors in this life, art
has always been there, like that tune you can't get out of your head.
I began working in pastels in the 1990's. I fell instantly in love with the medium.
The array of intense, vibrant colors, the feel of each pastel stick in my hand,
the texture of the pastels and the papers, and the immediacy of the
mark making all captured my imagination. Through pastel I moved into oil
painting. While I was living in Taos, NM I had the opportunity to learn from
several local artists living there and Santa Fe. Then there is the countryside of
NM to spark the need to create. Whether it be landscapes, still lifes,
figuratives, and more. I was hooked!
Although life has moved me in different directions, I find myself always
coming back to the need to create. But then, isn't that what life is?
We are all creating something, because, as humans, it's a basic need!
To make something beautiful and, just as important, to see beauty!
It is one of our best traits as humans.
